Default Search Engine Talk

In the search responses for the web (when preparing the website for the web), add any additional words that could help in the search, ie. chat, flashchat, Clemson, USC, gamecocks, tigers, Pelzer, West Pelzer, Piedmont, Williamston, Anderson County, Anderson, announcements, social, security, friends, prayers, community, politics, upstate, SC, south, South Carolina, Debra's Designs, Petes of West Pelzer, The Journal, etc (any words that are frequently used in the postings) ... Place a comma after each word except for the last word. When you rename the website, place the full name in the search criteria for the website, then break down the words in the name of the website with commas. As new news arrives, monitor it weekly and type in the headlines of local news, that will keep an even flow in the search engines and keep it close to the top.

Also search free search engines. Register the name of the site with each of the free engines - (after you have named it). They will ask for the same words as listed above. I would be careful on the people that can come into the web without a pass word. In your admin section of the web, you should be able to knockout the trash.

Then when a person types in one of those words, the internet will automatically search the word (through all of the engines that you have registered with) and pull up the most used websites that contain these words. To get it to the top of the list, you would need to do the search a couple of hundred times and it would rise to the top of the list as searched.

If you have not added a tracker to catch any potential virus plants, you should also do a search on that and add an automatic tracker just in case someone with a virus visits the site, it will not allow them to enter. It's called something like a web crawler.

Go to Pliner.net to place any additions that you want to add to the website. If ya need some help, let me know.

For outside the area we use vBulletin’s search modules with some background coding. Have to be careful because the BOTS. They will kill you with spammers and the likes. We’re rejecting 10 to 15 users a day now that are trying to sign-up from other countries and we know what they want to do.

Thanks for all the names so far and keep them coming.
Just remember you can put anything in the "tag" that the locals would type in to find the website and it would bring up the website in the search. It doesn't matter what you name it, the secret is all in the tag. I think as long as people have to register and sign in you can maintain control of the spammers. At one time, you had a lot of people posting. If you change the name, do you lose the previous posters or will you be notifying everyone registered of the new name change?

This website has the emails well controlled, but I think I messed up by placing names in my list. It appears that I can't get emails from any newcomers that I do not have in my list. Any idea how I fix this?

Wanted to limit the site name suggestions to that topic so I moved your other threads here.

Will follow-up with other information later.

Thanks

Thanks for keeping me straight. I'm not crazy. I'm just a little impaired.

AA – Prior to the latest upgrade I’m sure you were able to do things that you can’t any longer. Sorry for the inconvenience but due to a recent boom in the bot market, we were forced to tighten the *****s in the security settings.

I wonder if these people sell stock in their products. If so maybe I should invest.

tighten the *****s
Now that's what you call tight security. Even a Moderator can't type the word *****.
